The Dominican Republic is the most visited island in the Caribbean
The Dominican Republic held its position as the most popular getaway for tourists in 2021. A destination like no other, the DR features astounding nature, intriguing history, and rich culture. Tourism Remains Strong in the DR
The Dominican Republic expects 4.8 Million tourists by the end of 2021, though still far from the 6 million arrivals recorded in 2019 before the pandemic, according to details recently revealed by the Minister of Tourism David Collado.
In August 2021 alone, 476,575 non-residents arrived in the Dominican Republic, a figure close to August 2019 (497,390 tourists).
“We are going to close the year at 4,840,376 [tourists], a number that we never imagined we would be able to reach in 2021. These are clear signs that tourism is recovering in a sustainable way in the Dominican Republic,” said Collado in his statement.
That’s the highest number of any Caribbean destination this year.
