The Dominican Republic held its position as the most popular getaway for tourists in 2021. A destination like no other, the DR features astounding nature, intriguing history, and rich culture. Famous for beautiful beaches and breathtaking scenery, you are sure to enjoy a vacation to this island paradise.
The Dominican Republic expects 4.8 Million tourists by the end of 2021, though still far from the 6 million arrivals recorded in 2019 before the pandemic, according to details recently revealed by the Minister of Tourism David Collado.
In August 2021 alone, 476,575 non-residents arrived in the Dominican Republic, a figure close to August 2019 (497,390 tourists).
“We are going to close the year at 4,840,376 [tourists], a number that we never imagined we would be able to reach in 2021. These are clear signs that tourism is recovering in a sustainable way in the Dominican Republic,” said Collado in his statement.
That’s the highest number of any Caribbean destination this year.
